Bandit 600 pilot screw setting

So I picked up a non running 1999 bandit 600. Guy bought it as a first bike from a friend to lend her money and got nowhere with fixing it. It was cranking, but no fire. So I poked at it for a few minutes today and found that the plugs werent getting very good spark, so I replaced the plugs with some he provided to me, and its running. Sorta. Are the pilot screws set correctly on the carbs? Remember they shouldnt be screwed completley in but need to be backed out 1 3/4 turns. The only bikes I saw this on was single and twin cylinder bikes.Nothing on 4cyl. Im just wondering how to fine tune it properly and find the correct setting for the screws. That allows you to fit the screw driver tip into the slot on the pilot screw and adjust it. Just takes a bit more care to hold the tool on the screw when adjusting. Based on that assumption - that's the same engine and likely the same carburetors as the Katana 600. Continuing on in this vein, your baseline adjustment for the idle screws should be 2.5 turns out from bottomed. 3 isn't going to hurt anything, and is certainly going to do better than 1.75.
